The Akita as a Companion. There are few things cuter than an Akita puppy. However that cute little puppy quickly grows into a large powerful adult. Adult Akitas can easily weigh 60 to 110 pounds in their first year. Serious formal Obedience training is a "must". The new Akita owner must dedicate several hours a week to training and socializing their new puppy. These training sessions must continue for a mimimum of the first year. This is a very smart breed that learns quickly. Establishing pack order within your family unit is a must. Akitas should never be left unsupervised with children, their size alone can be a hazard around the small child. All Akitas are individuals with their own personalities, and while many may play very gentle with your children, others may be a bit more rough in their actions.
We are a small kennel with a limited breeding program. While we may not always be able to provide you with a quality well bred BayCrest Akita, we are more than happy to assist you in your search for your new dog. We have many friends and acquaintances who have similar breeding programs who may have the pup you are looking for. We will always be more than happy to assist you with any questions you would have about our dogs, or this breed in general.

Our research and dedication to improving the breed allows us to trace the ancestry and health of our dogs for many past generations. A Pet Store can only provide you with a pedigree, that may or may not prove who the ancestors were-it will NOT educate you about the health of that puppies relatives.

ALL companion dogs will be placed on Spay/Neuter Contracts. Show Potential dogs may also include breeding restrictions. If you would like to know about our contracts, planned breedings, and or prices, please contact us privately. We consider any pup we produce to be a lifetime responsibility that we take very serious. Our Contract also contains a "First Right to Refusal Clause" which means if at any time during this dogs life it must be rehomed, it must be returned to us, or we must approve the new home for that dog. |
